Palmer’s mother says his father has been changing. What do you think she means by this? How do these changes show in his father’s actions?

One reason why is because he compete in the pigeon competition. Also, because he did not go to the pigeon day the year before, and he went to palmers room with a flashlight to see nipper in the closet.
